Why choose Us?
TLC has a history of dependability dating from 1991. We never close and we
are used to dealing with the inevitable last minute emergencies which all
of us encounter.
We offer classic "family-style" boarding. Dogs
live in our four bedroom home, as opposed to a kennel or pet hotel. Adjusting
to our family
of four (6, counting our 2 rescued dogs) is quick and bonding with the
new pack is comforting. Your dog will have her usual food and walk schedule.
Individual needs are met, such as meds, injections, special food preparation
and geriatric issues.
Boarding Rates
Adult / Base Rate- Applies to housebroken dogs only. They have the run of the
house and pick their favorite spots for resting and sleeping. Many feel most
comfortable in our kids' bedrooms.
Youth / Training Rate- Applies to dogs with inappropriate behaviors such
as destructive chewing, uncontrollable barking and aggression. Dogs in
this category are closely monitored at meal times, are leash trained indoors
and are given separate sleeping quarters.
Puppy / Geriatric Rate
Applies either to dogs who are not housebroken
or to geriatric dogs with incontinence. Pups are routinely crate trained
and are allowed to play in penned in areas while they learn housebroken
behavior. They require eight (or more) walks per day to learn where to
do what a puppy has to do. Geriatric dogs are closely attended to so as
to prevent accidents. They may require as many as six outings per day.
What is a TLC Spa Stay?
This is a board which addresses your dog's need for weight loss. A typical
spa stay lasts two weeks and includes daily:
• Four exercise intensive walks (2 long ones plus 2 shorter ones)
• Supplemental play sessions
• A brushing and a rub down
• A claw trim and bath top off the board.
Important to the Spa Stay is a mandatory 60 minute owner session to address
the following:
• Which are the high quality foods?
•
How much should your dog eat at meal time?
•
Which treats are okay?
•
How many walks are appropriate for your dog?
•
How do you maintain your dog's ideal weight?
Housebreaking
Your Pup Training Board
We offer an easy three part course on how to teach your pup to "hold it" until
outside.
1. A 60 minute in home session in which we determine a consistent feeding,
walking and crate training schedule. The crate's role, as a tool to facilitate
housebreaking is thoroughly discussed. It is imperative that all family
members use the same schedule and techniques, so all family members are
welcome in the session.
2. A two week training board for your pup in which a consistent, thorough
housebreaking schedule is followed. Daily socialization and play sessions
with other pups and dogs are an additional benefit. During the board we
keep a feeding / walks / elimination journal and maintain intensive communication
with you.
3. A 60 minute follow up after the board is a crucial conclusion to the
course for all family members. The feeding / walks / elimination journal
is studied and we teach you how to keep the same kind of journal.
What is a TLC Home-Stay?
Some dogs, like cats, experience severe anxiety when removed from the familiar
sights, smells and sounds of their homes and fellow pets. We have clients who
regularly need us to live in their homes for the duration of a trip. Most often
those households have both cats and dogs who benefit from the live-in loving
care.
